Active nudist

Oct 12 2009

Living Naked at home and in Public, Richard Foley

A new contribution to naturist/nudist publications is the hardback book Active nudists by Richard Foley. At first sight it is clearly something different. The quality of paper and the art style of photographs produces the type of book which could be left on the coffee table as a centre piece and certainly a conversation starter. Richard celebrates the world of nudism with a pictorial tribute to those who seek and enjoy a more active although sometimes challenging lifestyle. The text is in three languages, English, French and German and compliments the photos although a slight criticism is that it does not directly relate to them. Individual chapters are each given over to a theme of nudist lifestyle with emphases on activity and complemented by Richard’s perspective on each of these activities,. Throughout you are treated to a justification of the activities from the slant of enjoyment and honest fun which Richard achieves with ease. If you had a visitor who is not sure about naturism then a few moments reading this book will probably convince all but the most prudish and even those who are anti such active lifestyles would be moved to accept “why not?” This book can be obtained from most stationers including Amazon . The ISBN number is 978-3-934020-68-9 and the publishers are Edition Reuss.

INF-FNI office

Sep 7 2009
The International Naturist Federation is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Linz, Austria. This new location will replace the former office in Antwerp, Belgium.
The mailing address is now: Eduard-Nittnerstrasse 14/6, A-4063 Hörsching. The email addresses will remain the same. However, the new telephone numbers are: +43 (0)7221 72480 and Fax +43 (0) 7221 72358. Of course you can still contact all EC and CC officers at the email addresses you have.
We are also pleased to introduce the new INF-FNI employees. Dana Koukol and Eva Simsek. The office hours will be Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12:30.
Sieglinde Ivo, INF-FNI President, is excited about the opening of the office. “This will ensure that we can keep pace with our members, the Federations and the various naturist businesses who wish to have contact with the international naturists and be able to provide up to date information.”
Linz, the Capital of the Province of Upper Austria, is situated astride the Danube. With a population of 190,000, Linz is Austria’s 3rd largest city. The Linz Metropolitan area is a hub of a thriving regional economy.
Linking up industry, culture and nature has played an essential role in the Linz09 Program which makes this an appropriate setting for an international naturist organization to have its office.

Irish Federation (INA) Survey

Sep 4 2009

The Benchmark Consulting firm has been engaged by the Irish Federation (INA) to conduct important research to support the future growth and official recognition of naturism in Ireland.

The INF-FNI, in order to allow the survey to be more far reaching, has agreed to put the survey on this website in the hope that many more individuals will have the time to complete the survey.

The INA hopes to achieve three important goals:

  1. To gather relevent data around the prevalence of naturism in Europe.
  2. To create a much better understanding in Ireland of what naturism actually is and the values it represents.
  3. To understand and develop a clearer developmental path for the INA in the future.

This is a significant moment in time for both the INA and the INF-FNI and we thank them for the opportunity to share in this historical event with them.

We hope that you will take a few minutes, click on the link below, and complete the survey.

Thank you very much.

ALPA-ADRIA 2009

Jul 8 2009

37 th MEETING ALPE-ADRIA AT SOLARIS IN CROATIA

From the 11th until  the 14th of June, 2009 many members of various federations met in this splendid center of naturist holidays of Croatia. Participants from Italy, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia were largely represented and, in spite of the long distance, participants from Spain and France were also present.

For the first time it was possible for all the people present on the grounds, who were not members of the INF-FNI, to take part in this event where several kind of sports could be enjoyed.

The goal of this endeavor was so that the entire potential of people who were  present and did not even know that the Federations and the INF-FNI exist, and that they manage and organize many things for them, would change in the future. A national or international flyer would be welcome to disseminate this information even more widely. At the beginning of the week the program was posted at the various strategic places and by ensuring a permanence for these notices I also made it possible for the recruitment of new members.

The chess and the table tennis started after the opening ceremony at which the President of the INF-FNI, Sieglinde IVO as well as the Director of the Center Mr Doni SIMONOVIC , assisted. Different representatives for the federations were also present. These games were followed by a tennis tournament, a cross-country race, volleyball, beach volleyball, game of bowls and tug of war. Each event had its categories for men, women, children and mixed, and participants above years for the cross-country race of 800 meters for the adults and 400 meters for the children.

The INF-FNI cup  for the greatest participation was given to the person in charge for the Italian federation which replaced its president unable to attend due to  previous obligations.

The traditional gala-evening on Saturday included the presentation of the trophies and the certificates was very pleasant.  And for those who still had a little energy left, the splendid meal was closed with a dance.

After a short night, the general director of the VALAMAR Company honored us with her presence and even made small speeches  in all the languages represented. This was the first time this was ever done.

Other attendees held a work meeting to prepare for the year 2010 and to make the improvements necessary. For the 2010 Alpa Adria meeting the date is June 3rd. All the necessary information can be found on the website of the International Naturist Federation and will be also widely diffused by the national federations.

I would also like to say that the Valamar Company, which manages a very great number of grounds in  Porec, Croatia, informed us that on presentation of the stamp of the INF-FNI an automatic discount of 15% will be given to you.

INTERFEDERAL 2009

May 29 2009
From May 20th until 24th twelve national naturist federations met together in the annual international meeting of European federations. Capably hosted by the French Federation FFN and taking place in the holiday centre of Domaine Laborde at Monflanquin, the meeting was held this year in welcome warm spring sunshine.
Discussions this year centred on agreeing a structure for the recent change of control of sports, youth and events in Europe. Following the agreement to hand over control of such events in Europe taken at the INF Congress in Brazil in September 2008 the federation meeting has set up a three person commission to control the events in future. This was agreed and the three members of the commission elected.
Equally coming from a request from the Irish Federation INA and using the information being collected by the INF on the legal status of naturism in each country it was agreed to organise a campaign to urge the EU to direct that laws should no longer be used as a discrimination against naturists being able to practice their way of life. Numerous other issues directly concerning the Federations and naturism in Europe were also discussed and information exchanged. Next years meeting is set to be held in Luxembourg during March 2010.

INF-FNI Library

Apr 28 2009
There will now be new additions to the INF-FNI library in Germany, thanks to the hard work of INF-FNI treasurer, Cor van Herp, who with Jef Smit, packed up 87 boxes from the Antwerp office.
These books, magazines, posters and photos, some dating back to 1933, are a continuing history of naturism around the globe. Some irreplaceable items will be stored for posterity at the Baunatal address, under the supervision of Jörg Damm.
The library, with the mission of providing information on different aspects of naturism, will now have one of the largest collections in the world.

POLAND

Apr 10 2009

It is with great pleasure that the INF welcomes a new federation to its ranks. The FNP (Naturist Federation of Poland) was accepted as a full federation at the Central Committee meeting on 28th February 2009 in Prague. This decision recognises the work of a small group of dedicated naturists in Poland to organise into a federation to represent and promote naturism in that country. Initially early last year they were recognised as official correspondents of the INF and following this worked on status and recruitment to reach full federation status. It is an excellent demonstration of how a new federation can be formed and we look forward to several further countries following this route and to the ever increasing network of federation across the world

LESS PRUDERY WOULD BENEFIT SOCIETY

Mar 26 2009

British Naturism (BN) has submitted a response to The Scottish Government's consultation on “Improving the Lives of Children in Scotland - are we there yet?”

Andrew Welch, BN’s Commercial Manager, said:
There is strong evidence that conventional attitudes towards the human body contribute significantly to a wide range of problems, some of them serious - but there is incredible reluctance to face the implications.

Westminster government figures published recently show that the UK has the worst teenage pregnancy figures of any country in Europe, while the figures are even worse in Scotland. The UK is probably the most censorious country in Europe about anything to do with the body. This pattern of less body tolerance, worse outcomes, is repeated across the western world. Our research shows conclusively that this is no chance connection

We are all born naked but years of social conditioning mean that our natural state becomes regarded as extraordinary, ridiculous or even immoral. The media and fashion industries both force us to focus on appearance and an unattainable perfection, so that many people dislike their very humanity. There are good reasons – physical, emotional and psychological – for not wearing clothes when circumstances are right, but the naked human form – something we all possess – can still draw attention, raise eyebrows or even shock. Taboos about the human body cause ignorance and frustration in the young, and create mystery and desire, that can so easily damage society.

Naturists have positive views of nakedness. They benefit from ignoring childhood conditioning and from going without clothes when appropriate. They come from all walks of life. They differ from non-naturists only in their choice of what to wear for certain activities. Surprisingly many people admit to enjoying, and regarding as perfectly normal, skinny-dipping, going topless on beaches (both at home and abroad) and spending time around the house without clothes. There are well over a million people who think of themselves as naturists and over fifteen million who are naturists to some extent.

Governments, authority figures and social and community leaders should accept that the human body is not something to be ashamed of or embarrassed about and that being more open about it would benefit society. The evidence is clear but there is incredible reluctance to face the implications. It is time to leave prejudices behind and do what it right for the young people of this country.

The World Day of Naturist

Feb 17 2009

The World Day of Naturists 2009

The world day of naturists was launched by the federations of the International Naturist Federation (INF-FNI)and their clubs, to offer the opportunity to the general public toTo this end, almost everywhere in Europe, once a year in spring, a special day is chosen. experience the world of naturism, as we live it.

For 2009, the 7th of June has been set as the day of "open doors”.
On this day, in hundreds of INF-FNI clubs, visitors will find sport meetings or youth events, or simply information outlining the highlights of the club and showing them a detailed insight into the long history of naturism.  Additional information can be found on the website at www.inf-fni.org.

The aim of World Naturist Day is to create world awareness of who we are. In order to make this public appearance, members of the federations will advertise the special events they plan for this unique day, even in countries where naturism is not yet organized, in order to demonstrate the possibilities organized naturism offers.

This is also a perfect time for naturists to introduce someone they know to the many positive benefits of Naturism.

WORLD CONGRESS BRAZIL 2008

Oct 30 2008

31st Biennial World Congress Brazil 2008

The 31st Biennial World Congress held from 10th September 2008 until 13th September 2008 in Brazil has now been successfully completed and we must record our appreciation to the Brazilian Naturist federation together with the Brazilian government for their considerable efforts to make this ground breaking congress a reality.

The beachside setting of the congress proved a challenge requiring all facilities to be set up in a very short time. This included bringing in electrical cables from the national grid to allow the proper running of the meetings. The event proved a great source of publicity in Brazil and in South America generally and will have enhanced and boosted the interest in a naturist lifestyle in that part of the world. It should not be under estimated how such publicity and events can provide the incentive to increase our numbers and the commercial interests offered such as tourism which is so important to so many countries.

The Congress was of course the first to be held in South America and in fact in the southern hemisphere and underlines INF-FNI’s role as the world naturist organisation. The idea of travel to South America for a large number of delegates and equipment may seem to many to be a costly enterprise however, in fact, this actual Congress proved to be the least expensive to INF ever as a result of the collaboration between the Brazilian Federation and the Brazilian Government particularly the Ministry of Tourism and the Department of Paraiba. Again their considerable contribution must be acknowledged and recognised.

The beach of Tambaba itself is a delightful setting very well used by local naturists as well as the increasing number of visitors and the requirement for compulsory nudity ensures its future for naturism. For anyone considering a naturist holiday to this part of the world then this must be high on the list of places to visit. I am certain that the delegates the this years Congress will not forget their visit and join me in a hearty thank you to Brazil for hosting this prestigious event.
